Emergency Management

Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC)

About Us

The modern version of the Massachusetts Civil Defense Agency legally began with the Massachusetts Acts of 1950 as amended in 1965. The acts were again amended in 1991 to change the name to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA). In 1980 SARA Title III became law and shortly thereafter Massachusetts started certifying Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPC). Millis was one of the first certified LEPCs in the state. The Millis LEPC was fully certified in 2008 and re-certified in 2013.
