eMPowerMillis Community Electricity Program

eMPowerMillis is pleased to announce its new pricing for Millis’ Eversource electric customers.  The new pricing begins with your December 2023 usage and remains the same through November 2025.  If you are already on eMPowerMillis’ default rate, you have already received a mailed notification and you do not have to respond to the mailing.  You will automatically be included in the new rate, which is $0.1617 per kWh

An important thing to note is that Eversource has just announced its new winter rates, which will be in effect from January 2024 through June 2024.  Their new rate will be $0.1725/kWh.

eMPowerMillis is a program offered by the Town to provide residents and businesses more electricity supply options by pooling the electricity use of thousands of users in Millis.  eMPowerMillis does not replace Eversource as our electric utility: they continue to deliver electricity, repair outages and manage all billing.  The program is a Town alternative for the Supply portion of your bill to Eversource’s default supply and other third party electricity suppliers.

On the eMPowerMillis website eMPower.millisma.gov/enroll residents, business owners, and other ratepayers can:

  • Learn how the program works;
  • Use forms to enroll in the program, change their choice or leave the program;
  • Read the aggregation plan and other program documents;
  • See the benefits of supporting renewable energy generation.

Please keep in mind that future savings cannot be guaranteed because Eversource Basic Service rates change every six months for residential and commercial customers and every three months for industrial customers. Eligible customers will receive a Customer Notification letter detailing the program and, for those who choose to, ways to leave the program (opt out); those who choose not to opt out will be automatically enrolled. Customers who have chosen a third-party supplier are not eligible for automatic enrollment and will not receive an opt-out package. They can join the program voluntarily at any time, however, they may be subject to penalties or early termination fees from the third-party supplier if they switch to the electricity aggregation program during the term of their contract with their chosen supplier
