Benefits for Retired Employees and Survivors
Retired Town employees may choose to enroll in Health and Dental policies specifically designed to extend benefits into your retirement years. The Town of Millis currently offers Group Health Insurance to eligible employees through the Group Insurance Commission (GIC). The Town covers 70% of the cost share for HMO, PPO-TYPE, and POS plans and 50% for PPO and Indemnity Plans.
MEDICARE ELIGIBILTY
If you are 65 or over, you are required to enroll in Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B. If you are not eligible for Medicare, valid proof is required to remain enrolled in the Town's health plan. Please contact Medicare 3 months prior to your 65th birthday. Upon receipt of your Medicare Card please contact Human Resources to discuss your options.

The Town of Millis currently offers One Medicare Advantage Plans and Three Medicare Supplemental Plan. Please refer to the Benefit Guide and Rate sheet below for more information regarding the plans.
Health and Dental:
Life Insurance:
The Town of Millis offers all active benefit eligible employees basic and voluntary life insurance plans. These plans are insured by Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company. The Basic Life plan offers $5,000 group term life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage. This policy is strictly a death benefit; there is no cash value associated with this plan. The Town of Millis pays 50% of the premium for this policy.
The Voluntary Life policy offers employees the opportunity to purchase up to $50,000 in additional life coverage. The Voluntary Life policy also has an option for Dependent Life coverage, Spouse for $5,000, and Children for $5,000.
Upon the attainment of age 70, Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance for both active and retired employees shall reduce to $5,000.
All Life Insurance benefits for active employees and retirees, including dependent life will terminate upon the age of 75.
